Four tips to promote a healthier life:
When we approach our wellbeing by thinking about our cellular health we can build resilience in our body and perform better. Here are four steps recommended by Doctor Monisha Bhanote who is the author of the book ‘Anatomy of Wellbeing’.
Step 1: Eat better plant diversity. If you eat a variety of plants-fruit and vegetables you protect your DNA and it slows cellular aging. Try to have a rainbow of colours on your plate.
Step 2: Get your eating aligned with your circadian rhythm. Late night eating forces your cells to keep digesting when they should be resting and repairing.
Step 3: Use herbs and spices as medicine. Turmeric is a master switch for antioxidants. The herb Oregano protects your mitrochondria. Cinnamon improves glucose regulation. Its good to include during menopause. Your diet impacts your health so eat food that looks like actual food and remember to add fresh herbs like parsley to your cooking.
Step 4: Make time for stillness. We often think we have to rush around and that by taking a break we are not going to have time to achieve our goals. But actually the reverse happens. When you take time to have a break doing whatever you do that brings you a sense of calm you will find when you return to your work you are actually more productive.
