Words are powerful.
Words are powerful.
They have the power to heal or to hurt, to bring comfort or create pain. Yet too often in
today’s world, we use highly charged words that stir powerful emotions, many of which are
negative.
I am saddened by how often I hear the word hate being used. When I was growing up, my
mother always told me not to use that word. I remembered her words last night and decided
to explore something for myself.
I said the word hate quietly to myself. Then I said the word love.
I paused and noticed the difference in how each word felt. There was a heaviness to one
and a warmth to the other. It made me reflect on the energy we carry through the words we
choose.
I believe the thoughts we nurture and the words we speak can influence how we feel, our
wellbeing, and the wellbeing of those around us. The words we use can shape our inner
world and affect the people we share our lives with.
Perhaps we could all take a moment to become more aware of the language we use.
How are the words you are speaking making you feel?
Are they bringing peace, connection and love into your life, or are they creating tension,
anger and separation?
Words are a choice. And sometimes, a small change in the words we use can make a
meaningful difference.
